Good things come to those to wait...sometimes! Our barns got a recent revamp with new fans for each stall, our covered outdoor arenas and indoor arena got new fans and better ventilation systems, we even had to have a terminator come out as we've been overrun by a herd of mice lately who have gotten into areas that they shouldn't have, ugh I hate rodents!!! JT and the other staff have tried their best to keep up with rodent proof containers and one of the new show grooms; Tessa McClean, even brought in a couple barn cats from her parents place who have been doing a pretty excellent job of exterminating the vermin! I think we need more cats. I may soon have a barn full of cats, but at least the rodents will be taken care of, lol!!
As for the horses, everyone is coming along fine! We have a special foal crop coming soon that we've anxiously awaiting the arrival of!! And we had kind of a Stock Horse craze go on at the latest trip to The Committee. I know this may be the beginning of the end, but hey I'm a sucker! We picked up 4 new Quarter Horses for Cowhorses Unlimited; Hollywood Starlet PVE, A Bold Impression PVE, Peps Fine Shiner, and Shez Gotta Gun and a really nice Pleasure prospect in CI Barely A Rebel! The adoptions have all been approved and the horses were soon to arrive. The CU crew are all in an uproar over where the newbies will be staying, and who will be taking care of who. Its hilarious how the staff members act every time we have new horses coming in, they crack me up!!
As soon as JT and Tessa rumble down the drive towards the CU Complex, Mindy; followed by Jared and Greg were quick on the scene, armed with lead ropes and carrots. I had to hold back a chuckle as they stood in almost military like form, awaiting the arrival of the truck and trailer so they could take their charges to their assigned stalls. "Serious much?" I asked Mindy with a grin, a small smile played across her face as she turned to me. "Nothing like being prepared for more pretties!" I laughed, "Definitely, I'm anxious to see how these guys will fit in with the rest of the crew! Pep and Gotta will be awesome additions to our broodmare band for sure, I can't wait to see what kind of foals they give us!" Mindy nodded agreeably, "I'm already planning studs to breed them to. I know I'm jumping the gun a bit, but hey a girl can dream can't she?!" We both laughed as JT expertly maneuvered our big dually pickup and six horse slant load trailer up to the doors of the CU Show Barn.
"We finally made it!" Mindy breathed in the clean country air as she and JT jumped out of the truck and went to open the trailer. They helped Jared and Greg unload the horses, made sure their water buckets were full and bedding was thick enough. Some of the other horses in the barn greeted the new comers with joyous whinnies, hanging their heads over their stall doors trying to see who was coming down the barn aisle. Once the horses were all bedded down, and JT had went to bed down our new Pleasure stud CI Barely A Rebel and park the trailer, the rest of us went into the office for a CU meeting. Mindy and Jared had news of a few upcoming shows that we should enter some of the horses in, and Greg had a breeding proposition for a couple of our mares.
We were going to be there for awhile.
