And while our winter hasn't been the whitest, it sure has been one of the wettest!! All its seems to do is rain and be windy, its too darn cold if you ask me!! We're all running around the barns in parkas and long johns trying to stay dry and warm. The horses don't care for the weather either, their all stuck indoors until the pastures dry up a bit as their all turning into muddy messes, eww. If the sun comes out randomly, the horses are let out unless it froze the night before, then we put some of them out into the outdoor arenas or covered arenas for a while to stretch their legs. Otherwise their stall bound until further notice. The poor broodmares are nearing their foaling dates, and lumber around their stalls wondering when their foals will be born and they can go outside again. Unfortunately if it continues to rain and be gross out, its going to be awhile until their let outdoors with their babies, I don't need the babies turning into foalcicles!!
With show season in full swing once again, we're planning out who all to take to which show. Our race string is looking good this year, and we hope they do great things this year. Last year was kind of a bust for our racing string with out training going on the fritz, our horses not doing well and nasty rumors flying off the racetrack like bird feathers, we were about to throw in the towel and disperse of our racing string. But then we acquired a new trainer through a friend of a friend who managed to pull our tail feathers out of the flames at the right moment and put us back on track! We even hired a couple new grooms to overlook the racers care and exercise schedules. Now we're on our way to a brighter 2021 and hopefully some wins!!
On the other side of the pond so to speak, our Cowhorse and Pleasure strings are looking mighty nice this year! We have high hopes for both sides of the Western disciplines, and have some very nice horses to showcase this year. We were able to acquire some much needed new blood from various sources last year and are anxiously awaiting a 2nd foal crop of lovely foals we know will be awesome Working Western or Pleasure prospects! Keep an eye out for these guys, there aren't going to be a bunch of them, but what ones will be born are going to be extra special!! And with the return of our Morgan Pleasure string, we're excited to get back to being more active in the Morgan breed! This breed is one of the most amazing breeds we have dealt with for years, they can do anything and everything, and do it all in the utmost style!! Watch out for the possible return of our Saddleseat Morgans this year as well, its about high time the MHA got a bunch more competitors in all disciplines!!
And finally the Sporthorse portion of the farm had an upgrade of sorts this last year! Our Hanoverian and American Warmblood herds have grown nicely with several new additions added to the barn. We're excited with the new horses we got from the Secret Santa Gift Exchange; I can't thank everyone enough for loading us up with so many incredible new horses!!! Our stallion lineup is looking amazing, we're running around like crazy to collect show records and get our stallion ad revamped and loaded up with our best of the best in all Sporthorse disciplines!! We also have another small Sporthorse foal crop expected this year, and these babies are going to be some of our finest, I just have this feeling! We carefully planned out each and every breeding to the T, got second opinions from some of our close friends and made some surprise decisions on a couple of breedings. These foals will be some of the most amazing homebreds ever in my opinion, I can't stand the wait much longer, my anxiety level is through the roof!! Everyone in the barn is super excited about this years foal crop!! We're all making wagers of who will foal first, its kind of a funny thing around this time of year!! Its going to be a super stressful next couple of months, but it'll all be worth it in the end, we're going to have some amazing Sporthorse prospects to ooh and aah over for the next year before they go into In-Hand training!! We may just have our next Olympic level prospect, you never know!!
