Yup, good old Washington weather, wet and gross and cold and windy! Power outages, frosty grass and wet feet will be the norm from here on out until sometime in June! Why this state decided to be a swamp I will never know!! The poor horses have been stuck in the barn between rain storms. Luckily when the sun does come out, their all eager to bust down their stall doors and make for the pastures!! But with freezing temperatures and possible snow fall on the way, there's never a dull moment!! Luckily this year EVERY horse has a blanket, last year was a flippin disaster that left many horses without blankets. But we had several people donate good used blankets and we bought a few as well to make sure everyone could keep warm and dry this coming winter!!
Anyways, other news on the farm, the Miniature Horses have been relocated to a newly renovated portion of Cowhorses Unlimited as Bavenwood will only be focusing on the Sport end of the horse industry! And until further notice the Miniatures will be put out to pasture for a time until we can reorganize the herd once again to better suit our needs. Bavenwood is an every changing and growing piece of clay we're always trying to reform and change to suit the occasion and to suit our various horse programs. We have several very nice show prospects ready to kick up their heels in the 2021 show season; if Covid doesn't chase us away first, ugh!!! Back to Phase 1 we go, and back to no toilet paper and paper towels, etc. on the store shelves, yippee, grrr!! Taking every precaution very seriously, we've managed to keep everyone safe so far; and hopefully it stays that way!! Visitors are required to have face coverings at all times when on the farm. If you don't have one, we will supply one mask per person. Any whiners who refuse to wear a mask get the boot! We will not be held responsible for boot imprints on backsides if you choose to be a no mask whiner, lol!!
In Committee news, a recent browsing spree brought home some very nice horses if we do say so ourselves!!! Some top notch older horses that will be great additions to our breeding programs. I had mainly went to find a couple new show horses, but breeding horses are also good for the future of their breeds and the horse Sports!! So without further ado, we proudly present our newest residents to Bavenwood Farm:
Bywinds Eternal - 2005 Hanoverian Stallion
This handsome gentleman is a son of Ecuador and out of the Espri mare Elise. With bloodlines like these we are certain to produce a superior FEI Level Dressage competitor, possibly a CCI** Eventing competitor without equal! His conformation is nearly perfect with all the right parts and muscling to go with the package! I felt very fortunate to find such a fine Hanoverian stallion, and a Bywinds bred to boot, how could you possibly go wrong?!
Bavenwood Inspired - 2013 Morgan Mare
It was a little troubling to find one of our fine homebreds in the Committee, but I was ecstatic to bring her back home!! She is a daughter of our Bavenwood Crusader who is a Hall of Fame stallion. This girl has the Conformation and mind to make an exceptional Dressage, Eventing or CDE competitor. We will be continuing her training and see where she fits in the best and hopefully get some points on her before 2021 is through!!
Bywinds Hypersonic - 2008 Thoroughbred Mare
This wonderful mare has some bloodlines I've been wanting to get my hands on for some time!! She is nicely put together with a very sweet and willing disposition for a Thoroughbred! She is a daughter of Bywinds Supersonic and out of Bywinds Mysterious Flame! Sacha could always breed the finest horses possible and I envy her breeding program. I'm just so glad to be able to finally add more of her Thoroughbreds to my program!!
Kimbre HSF - 2008 Thoroughbred Mare
What a beauty, definitely a black bombshell!! This 17 hand lovely lady is already turning heads with her sleek good looks and sweet as pie disposition. All eyes were on her as we walked her from her paddock, she almost moved with the graceful of a big cat, so soft, supply and exciting to watch!! She will no doubt be one of our finest broodmares one day. Her foals will speak for themselves!!!
A Golden Myth WC - 2006 Morgan Mare
A beautiful addition to the start of our small Morgan Pleasure program, she will make a perfect addition with her exceptional conformation and eye catching color. And I believe she will make a great match with our stunning buckskin stallion Twilight Gambler BWF!! She will no doubt produce some amazing foals for the future of our Morgan Pleasure program!! We have high hopes for them, and can't wait to see how they turn out!!!
Last but not least, 2021 is turning out to be an amazing Sporthorse journey already and it isn't even the end of 2020 yet!! As I stated before, we have some exceptional prospects and young show horses who have been training hard for the next show season to arrive. One of our most promising up and comers for the Sport of Eventing is the exceptional 2015 Hanoverian stallion Laramie BWF who is an own son of our outstanding stallion Latamigo!! This boy has all the right moves for the sport, and will no doubt be a horse to watch!! But with Covid and other obstacles getting in the way, we're skeptical at how the whole show season will turn out and what shows we'll even be able to attend now that we're going back into Phase 1; at least here in Washington! We also have thoughts for another new program; yeah I need another project like I need another hole in my head, but this is a project I have been trying to perfect in All-Sim, and so far haven't been doing too badly in it!! Stay tuned for the unveiling of the new project sometime later this year. There are many details to work out to make this project a success!! Wish us luck! Until next time, have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving if I don't see you before!!!
