Not really, it's actually raining, but starting tomorrow forecast says sunshine for a week, woot!!! So happy because more goals are being born almost daily now. As you might have guessed we've been pretty busy! And as usual, I want to spend as much time with each foal as I can until I feel about ready to plop down in the straw right with them! The girls had to rescue me the other night, I had went down to the mares barn for one last foal check, sat down at my desk in the office and promptly fell asleep...goodbye dinner lol!!
After a much deserved nap, I woke bright and early and headed back out to the barns after breakfast for another round of horsey heaven! A couple of our Hanoverian mares were holding out on us and decided to foal during the night the little brats. Danica and Evette came blazing out of the mare barn half in hysterics and half in excitement, I was demanded to go take a look; as if I wouldn't!! And low and behold, our two beauties Frozen Magic SF and Avina BWF produced a stunning pair of fillies!! Already can't wait to see how they develop!!
After all the excitement had somewhat subsided; Haha, I headed off to the show barn to groom my pretty girl Giselle BWF. Her foal was born this year via embryo transfer so she didn't have to take 11 months off from showing. We ended up flushing her a couple times, so I still have 2 other embryos I can use for next year!! We have started this embryo transfer thing on a lot of our older mares just as people do with straws from their stallions. We're following suit with mares and stallions so if for some unknown reason the stallion or mare either can no longer produce foals or pass away unexpectedly, their legacy can go on for awhile even though their no longer here. We have spent a ton of money in doing this, but it will be all worth it in the end. Or at least I think so!!
With the spring months slowly dwindling away and the beginning of summer closely nearing, we're planning for the future shows ahead, and planning for next years breeding. I've already got my list down of who to breed to who lol!! The girls think I'm crazy, but it doesn't hurt to plan ahead!!
It's so exciting to think of the future of the farm. Bavenwood is finally back on track where it should have been years ago!! Everyone is so excited to see what fabulous new horses we breed and buy to continue far into the future with some if the finest Warmbloods and Sporthorses. We have a plan set in motion to continue on the correct path to greatness and someday stand more of the finest stallions we can find and someday have our Olympic Champions to look upon and hopefully replicate later in the years to come!!
