Bavenwood Farm is a happening place these days! There's always something to see and something to do around here, there's never a dull moment!! With spring in the air brings about new life; plant and animal life that is!! We were only expecting a few foals this year since the last couple of years have been off the hook crazy due to various things. So we really only got a few mares bred and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the remainder of new baby foals!!
The Race Barn has been abuzz when Xmokin Storm BWF qualified for the Kentucky Oaks on the first Friday in May!! We were so excited to have the chance at another Triple Crown or Triple Tiara entrant!! We can't thank Megan enough for allowing us to breed two of our girls to her stunning Palomino stallion Xzibit CH!! What an extraordinary experience!! We got the lovely colt Xtreme Metal BWF and our lovely filly Xmokin Storm BWF respectively and couldn't be happier! Yeah we're bummed out Metal didn't qualify for the Derby, but hey, there are other big races we can point him at later this year and into next year!! He's not going to be out of the running anytime soon!! Our other boy Imaginary Code BWF is going to be an exceptional runner and just keeps getting better with age! I can see him racing for a couple more years with no problem!! And then maybe even having a career in Eventing or Dressage or something in the future while we also use him for part time breeding!! Extra Mile RPF is also an exceptional boy, we can't thank Lori enough for allowing us to own such an entertaining boy, he's definitely the barn clown and lives up to his reputation!! He's never been mean, just mischievous and silly!! I can't wait to see what his future holds on the track, I have good vibes coming from him, he's going to do amazing things!!
And with our limited foal crop this year, we'll have more time to spend with the babies! They'll be bomb proof and spoiled rotten in no time, haha! We have a new groom to add to the staff roster, Madison West comes from a background with both Sporthorses and Racehorses, so she's pretty much an all-arounder! She knows her way around a farm let me tell you! Maddie is good with her hands, super gentle and quiet, just the way you should be around horses! She's also an exceptional rider and may even help out with showing some of the Sporthorse types! She's already got her eyes on a couple of the OTTB's lol, go figure! She's been working with our newest Sporthorse trainer Lauren Hansen who has a vast background with Eventing and Dressage type Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds. His favorites are Thoroughbreds and Hanoverians, so he was a positive fit for the position! We're big Thoroughbred and Hanoverian fans over here as well!! Everyone has welcomed Maddie and Lauren with open arms and they have become a part of our big happy family!! Their sure to stick around for years to come and help in the future development of Bavenwood Farm!!!
