Spring has finally sprung, weather wise at least. The sun rays warm the horses, and make the barn staff very happy!! Plans of trail rides, long training hours and traveling to more shows fill the minds of everyone around the farm. With the rains, wind and yes snow finally giving up their icy grip on the land, the sun is finally unthawing the surrounding area to make way for new grass shoots, leaves and blossoms on trees and warmer weather ahead for loads of horse related fun!! Everyone on the farm is ready for better weather, and they are eagerly awaiting our annual summer barbecue and other special events we have planned. We might even hold a couple shows sometime in the future once our newest outdoor arena is finished and the grounds around it ready for future Cowhorse events!
There is already talk around the barns of how well our homebred horses continually do on the show circuits. we have plans of expanding out already large show string with even more horses. You can never have enough Working Western horses!! We're hoping to add more Arabians, Morgans, Paints and Appaloosas to our ever growing herd. We have a few of each and a very large herd of Quarter Horses. In the beginning Quarter Horses were the only breed Cowhorses Unlimited actively showed and bred. The thought never entered our minds to delve into any other Working Western type breeds until CU was reopened in Horses Forever where our imaginations went into overdrive and we all went crazy and had to test out other breeds just for fun. Well that just for fun has turned out to be pretty lucrative in the way of winning horses and outstanding future breeding stock! We were lucky enough to acquire a gorgeous Appaloosa mare from Shan whom we love more than we thought we would. In our personal experience Appaloosas can be pig headed and stubborn. Our girl Dixie fits that criteria to a T literally. She has her good days, but can be a full on brat the next day. We also a lovely Quarter Horse stallion from Shan as well who is fitting in nicely. Tina allowed us to add the Paint stallion BQ Indian Sugar Skip to our herd from her herd; and boy is he a handsome guy!! The Arabians were given to use for Secret Santa 2022 gifts, and the Morgans we've acquired through other means; including rescuing one of our top mares, breeding a few and getting a couple others from Sunni and Lin Ryder!!
The future of Cowhorses Unlimited looks pretty bright! We will continue producing some of the finest Working Western horses every year and showing the world what we're made of in the show pen!! Our horses are all very competitive and love to be on the road, so watch for them in future shows!!
